I've had a fascination with Chicago ever since I can remember. I don't know when it started, but The Windy City has always seemed magical to me. Every time I have the opportunity to visit, I jump on the chance, and that's exactly what I did when my mom suggested we have a "girls weekend" and celebrate her birthday there. My dad had to go for a business trip so she and I tagged along. It was the perfect weekend in my favorite city, celebrating the best mama in the world!
We spent the first day eating A LOT, kicking off our weekend with mimosas on the Chicago river and ending the night with delicious deep dish pizza from Lou Malnatis! It was a day filled with catching up on all the girl gossip I missed since I last saw my mom. The next day we strolled along Michigan Avenue, did a little bit of shopping, and met my dad when he got in town.
We had dinner with his team from work (and did a little more birthday celebrating) and ended the night with drinks at The Signature Lounge, the 95th floor of The Hancock Tower, which had an amazing view of the entire city.
I spent the last day doing all things "touristy", because what trip to Chicago is complete without a Chicago Dog and some Garrett Popcorn?
Last but not least we made a visit to The Bean and Millennium Park. I can't believe that I'd never been to Millennium Park in all my trips to Chicago. The weather was sunny and crisp, and there were a ton of people out. I fell in love with the city all over again.
I loved being able to visit Chicago, but I think if I lived there it would lose some of it's magic. It was a great weekend and I can't wait until I get to go back!
