We All Walk In Similar Shoes

As I was browsing through my blog feed today, I was thinking about why I love reading blogs so much. I've decided that it's because blogs are the closet thing to "reality" that you're going to get, way better than any reality TV I've ever seen. I feel like I can relate to so many of y'all and I love reading stories about your life, the great times, the challenges, and your inspiration for how to get through it all.

The best thing about my favorite blogs is getting to know the author behind the stories, I love finding things in common with all of y'all. I want to have that same transparency on my blog, and hope to be as relatable to as many of you as possible. I love when people leave comments saying "I know EXACTLY what you mean" because then I know I'm not the only girl out there feeling the same way.

I wanted to write a post to tell y'all a little more about me, especially since some of you are new. I figured the more we do this on our blogs the more we'll realize that we all walk in similar shoes, maybe a different color or size, but we're all traveling down similar paths none the less.

First and foremost, I'm not your typical Texas girl. I love it here, I was born and raised here, but I have a less than normal obsession with the "Carolina's"
I went to school in Charlotte, UNCC, and leaving Texas for college was the best decision I ever made. It forced me to grow up and become my own person.
My dad took me to a NASCAR race when I was 17 and after that day I knew I wanted to pursue a career in sports. I've realized I have way too much energy to be a "gray cube" girl, and have enjoyed working in sports and events ever since.
I was a Chi Omega in college and adopted "littles" like it was no one's business. I can't help it, I'm a people person.
The most pain I've ever felt, was when my high school sweetheart was a no-show at my older brothers wedding, never spoke to me after that day, and got engaged a year later. I still have no idea why (and he's married now).
I've been blessed with the three most amazing brothers in the world. This also has caused me to love shows like Jackass, crude humor, and college football.
I'm dating my best friend. We met in college, he liked me and I didn't like him, I liked him he didn't like me, I cried lots of tears over him, moved to another state, and we finally decided to give it a shot. I'm glad we're finally on the same page, because he makes me happy.
(During the "just friend" phase. We kissed this night, and I told him it was like kissing my brother, I can't believe he still speaks to me!)
The absolute coolest city I've ever been to is Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I'm dying to visit Chile one day.
So, tell me a little more about you!

Ya I wasn't born in Texas either..most of my life was spent in Florida..but I definitely love it here. My parents owned a cabin in North Carolina..in beech mountain...loved it there. I am inspired to write a blog entry now with my story...I don't think I have ever really shared it on my blog. :)

Your story about dating your best friend made me laugh out loud. I, too, had a best friend in college that loved me but it wasn't returned in "that way." We kissed and I said the SAME THING to him! And now he's a priest (gosh, did I do that???) and still loves me -- but like a best friend now :)

Great post! I ended up dating my college best friend too, then married him this year... those are the best relationships!
And I also left texas to go to college...and I've still not gone back. I miss it though!

Yay Bri! You're so right; non-bloggers have no idea what they're missing! I love that you went away for college; I did the same thing and it was the best thing I could have done :-) Happy Tuesday!

I bet those 3 awesome brothers wanted to punch that high school sweetheart you mentioned for messing with their sister! My high school "sweetheart" was no sweetheart either, so I feel your pain. But, I married my best friend a mere 4 months ago and all I can say is, "God is good!"

I am sorry for that heartbreak. Rude rude boy. but it lead you to your best friend who obviously loves you no matter what ... since you told him what you told him. d: I love your blog because I feel like I know you. I hope that one day I'll be less shy about showing up to things where I don't know anyone and actually make it to one of the Houston Events!

UM I can't get over this high school sweetheart. I have some choice names for him. But looks like you have a good guy now, so in the long run you win!! :)
