Static

If you looked into my head right now you would see this...

...static.

There's been so much change in my life lately that I'm a bit overwhelmed. I sit down, stare at the blank screen trying to figure out how to express everything, and I'm even more overwhelmed.

I know that change is a constant in life, but it's scary. It's scary not knowing what's ahead, and wondering if you would have been better off not taking any chances at all? But that's life, and I'm learning.

I came across this quote yesterday and found it to be so appropriate...

"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to live the life that is waiting for us"

Anyway, I'm ignoring all the static for now, because I do have a few things to share (on this little neglected blog of mine)...

Searching for apartments in Houston is a bit of a nightmare. There are just SO. MANY. OPTIONS. I grew up here, I should have known what to expect, but I was shocked.

I went to school in Charlotte, and my campus looked something like this...
Houston on the other hand, looks a little something like this...
Now, being in a big city has its perks, but I need the trees, my happiness thrives on that green, and I was getting anxiety at the thought of living in a cement jungle.

Luckily, after lots of searching, and one AWESOME mama, I found a great apartment. Still close enough to "things", but slighlty tucked away in a little green area inside this big ole city.

I'm currently obsessed with this...
Have y'all read any of them yet? What do you think? The first book is a little graphic, but the story is so good! I'm almost through the second book and I can't put them down!

I made a purchase that I am so excited about! I bought a briefcase/tote for work.
I think it's the first item I've bought with work in mind (other than clothes), but it was time to quit traveling on work trips with my ridiculously large OGIO bag that made me look twelve.

Also, I'm looking to meet up with other Houston bloggers! Please reach out to me if you're in the area because I'd love to set up a "blate"

Hope y'all are having a good week!

Isn't apartment hunting fun? Totally joking...but I'm having the opposite problem right now. We just don't have enough options in our area!

and I just started 50 Shades of Grey last night...they haven't even gotten to those scenes yet, but I have a feeling I'll get obsessed.

Hope it all clears up for you soon my dear! I'm afraid we all have days like this sometimes ;)

xoxo,
Joelle

The quote you found is appropriate for life and for all of us. I encourage you to do just that. Life has a funny way of leading you were you should/need to be. It may take time and there may be obstacles, but all of that is for a reason. In the mean time just make the best decisions you can make for yourself and keep an open mind. Houston has a lot of options for work, and although I have considered apply there, I just can't bring myself to do it. It is definitely a concrete jungle. But I'm so glad you found something there that brought you back close to your family! Best of luck! And if you are ever in Austin, I'm here! xo

So glad you were able to find an apartment that you love that didn't make you feel like you are too into the city!
And that bag for work is so cute! Are you loving your new job?
Hope things are going well for you!! :)

Good luck on your new job! My little sister goes to UNCC -- she loves it! I thought about going there myself back in the day.

Omg the 50 shades books are amazing! I need to read book 3, but I've read the first two and I couldn't put them down! I didn't think I would get into it, but it's such an interesting story. Hope you are enjoying your new job! I started a new job last week and I'm starting to catch on... it's tough the first few weeks though!

One day at a time, chica! Sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. Houston is a far cry from the green beauty of NC! But think.... your city is 50 shades of grey too!!! ;)
