Making Time For A Little Fun

You may or may not know, but the Daytona 500 was this past weekend, or it was supposed to be. The race ended up getting rained out, postponed until Monday, and after a few bizarre incidents a driver took the win, around 1:15 this morning.

This weekend was also the start of my second full season working in the sport. Although we worked a lot, there were also a lot of fun moments in between, here are some of them...
We hosted the 5th Annual NASCAR Diversity Awards Luncheon where Darrell Wallace Jr. was presented the Drive for Diversity award.

I was also thrilled because some great friends of mine were in town for a few days...
Colby works in our Charlotte office, and he deserves a shout out because I know he reads my little blog.

Ale and I also got to see our good friend, Diego, who does a great job at promoting Latin Americans in the sport...
but my favorite part of the weekend was introducing my pastor here in Daytona, and his wife Amanda to the sport. I think it was a great race for them to attend as "first timers". Here she is with one of my Charlotte friends, Adam.
I'm definitely blessed to be doing something that I love, and to be able to work with some great people along the way!

Travel Thursday: A Trip Down Under

It's time for another travel Tuesday, even though It's Thursday, I know. It's just been so crazy with the start of race season coming up, that I haven't even had time to sit down and blog

This week I wanted to share a little bit about my trip to Australia with y'all.

A few summers ago my granddad, took my "cousins" and I on a trip down under, to celebrate my cousin Anthony's graduation (you can get a little refresher about the whole fam here)

On our trip we visited Sydney, Melbourne, Hayman Island, and Cairns, but my favorite by far was Sydney. We climbed the Sydney Bridge and I fell in love with the Opera House.

I was so surprised at how different each location we visited was, and I loved them each for different reasons. Sydney was a vibrant city, with upscale hotels, restaurants, and plenty of nightlife.

But in Cairns we were closer to the wild...
...I'm talking tree-houses and big spiders kind of wild...

but we got to eat our meals at tables that looked like about amazing!

My favorite part of the trip was getting to ride in the sea plane, which is what we used to get to Hayman Island.
BUT I think the person who enjoyed the trip the most, was my little brother. By day 2 he looked like a total Aussie!
It was an amazing experience, and I would love to go back one day.

I do have ONE TIP THOUGH. We took this trip over our summer break, which was winter in Australia. I would encourage anyone who is planning a trip to Australia to make sure it's during our Winter.

If not you might end up doing some of this during part of your trip...
It looks sunny, but it was cold and rainy some of the days, so we played A LOT of cards!

I'm Back!

Sorry y'all! I've been on a brief blogging hiatus because this awesome person right here came to visit me...
We spent a weekend doing girly things like shopping, getting pampered at the spa, painting our nails, catching up on great TV drama, and eating lots of yummy food!

It was a great weekend, and I'm sad that she's headed back to Houston tomorrow!

BUT...I'll be back here this week with a travel tuesday, and some other fun updates, because I've missed y'all oh so much!

I hope you had a great weekend!

To The Guys Who Just Weren't "It"...

Tonight I had one of the best Valentines dates I've had in A LONG time. I went out with two girlfriends for Mexican food and Corona's, and it was refreshing for once to embrace being on my own.

At dinner, we began discussing memories of valentines past, and toasted to the realization that this valentines, we were in a much better place than the previous year.

I started reflecting on all the men who've been in and out of my life throughout the years, and realized that I owe them all a big "THANK YOU" so here it goes...

Thank you to my high school sweetheart who wasn't patient enough to let me grow up, and figure things out on my own...

Thank you to "MR. GQ", I'm sure one day you'll find a girl who finds your flat brimmed hats, pin stripped suits, and blue neon lights underneath you truck sexy, not this gal!...

Thank you to the Jackass who left me alone at my first sorority semi formal, and had another girl from another sorority come pick you up, loser...

Thank you to the player who started dating a girl in my sorority, WHILE you were still dating me...double loser!

and last but not least, thank you to "K-Fed" (yes, after Brittney's Spear's ex) as you so endearingly referred to yourself. Your ego just wasn't big enough for another person to fit in your life
(you like the cigs in the front pocket? classy)...

I owe a huge "THANK YOU" to each of you, for showing me what I want, and what I definitely do not want in a relationship.

Don't get me wrong, there have been some GREAT guys along the way, and for some reason or another it just wasn't meant to be. Those have been left of this list, but to the men above...Happy Valentines Day!

How was your valentines day? I'd love to hear some stories of your valentines from the past!

Some Things I'm In The Market For...

I realized this week that I need to do a little shopping because honestly, I think I've been looking like a hott mess!

First of all, I take off on all of my work trips looking like THIS...
Y'all, this is not ok. My backpack is sooooo big, that it's slightly embarrassing. I mean, I walk around the airport and I'm sure people are thinking, "shouldn't that little girl be in school?!?"

Needless to say, I'm on a search for a slightly more professional, more my size, bag for work (apparently I should be looking for some new black pants too, look at that saggy butt!).

Also, Nina got ahold of my shoes this week, and now they look like this...

So now, I'm in search of a perfect pair of black pumps.

One last thing I could use is...a man in my life...preferably one that looks like this...

Just kidding (kind of), but if you find him, send him my way!

Oh, and any bag and shoe suggestions are more than welcome!

Super Bowl Spinach Dip

I'm sure you're all about to join friends and family to watch the super bowl, I am too. I have TWO parties I'm going to try to fit in tonight. One for my church and one at my boss's house.

I decided to make my moms awesome spinach dip for the parties, and wanted to share the recipe with y'all!

1 pkg frozen spinach thawed and drained well (this is important)
1 1/2 C sour cream
1 C mayonnaise
1 pkg Knorr vegetable soup mix
1 8oz. can water chestnuts drained and chopped
3 green onions chopped

Mix. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Serve with Triscuits!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Who are y'all rooting for?!

My Mexican Heritage

Today I'm sharing a little bit about what it's like growing up in a multicultural household over at Jenni Austria Germany

Head on over to check it out! It includes a picture of my little brother looking a little something like this...
Happy Saturday y'all!
