Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

I know it's a day late, but I wanted to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas.I hope you had a weekend full of love and joy with all the people who mean the most to you.

We spent the day in comfy clothes, eating waaayyy too much food, and enjoying time with one another. I'd say it was a successful Christmas!

Holiday Nails and a Hot Date

My mom and I went to get holiday mani's and pedi's today, it was so much fun to just spend a girls day hanging with her!

For our toes we chose OPI "Chick Flick Cherry" with Essie "Set in Stones" on top...

I love how they turned out, so bright and festive!

For my nails I went with OPI "Glitzerland" and I. AM. LOVING. IT. It turned out so nice with just enough sparkle. I love it so much that I think I'm going to leave it like this until New Years!

It looks a lot better in person, but I highly recommend this color for the holidays!

When I was in high school my granddad and I started a tradition of going out for dinner dates once a month. I loved this time with him because it allowed us to have some really meaningful conversations with no distractions.

Tonight we decided to have another one of our dinner dates. We spent well over two hours catching up over good food, good wine, and great conversation. It was much needed granddad/Bri time but it made me a little sad to think of all the time I've been away from Houston.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I cannot believe it! I wish you all love, joy, and laughter, with the ones that you love most these next two days!

My South American Adventure

Last summer, my granddad and I took a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and it has been my favorite trip to-date.

In college I was a Latin American studies major, and the school approved this two-week trip to count towards my study abroad requirement, I was THRILLED!

We started our adventure in Buenos Aires. I absolutely fell in love with the city and wish I could have spent some more time exploring it. This is a picture in front of "La Casa Rosada" or "The Pink House", their version of The White House.

I've spent a lot of time in Latin America but Argentina was different. I was amazed by the beautiful European architecture blended with the traditional Latin culture. The food and wine were great and the people were some of the friendliest I've ever met.

Our next stop was Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is an incredible city, with huge high rise buildings right along the ocean. 

In Brazil they speak Portuguese but I naively figured I would be able to communicate with my Spanish and English, I was wrong. The people were super friendly but many of them did not speak any Spanish, despite their proximity to the other Latin American countries.

This is in front of "Escadaria Selaron"built by a Chilean artist.

The views in Brazil were absolutely stunning and we got some great pictures from the "Cristo Redentor" statue and Sugar Loaf mountain.

I loved both of these amazing countries and tried to soak up as much of the culture as I could while I was there.

 

We also got to visit Maracana, where they will host the FIFA World Cup in 2014!

This trip was so special but I think what made it so great was the fact that I got to spend two weeks with my granddad. I don't know when we'll get that much quality time together again, just he and I, and we created some memories that I will never forget.

She has been so good since I got her! I'm only slightly exhausted though because she woke up at 5:00am yesterday and 6:00am today.

Funny story, my dad said he picked her because he'd never seen a puppy with a tongue as long as mine...

...see the resemblance?

haha I just LOVE her!

Meet Nina

My parents surprised me with this precious puppy when I got to Houston today!

Her name is Nina and I. AM. IN. LOVE!

I was absolutely shocked. I've been wanting a dog for a while now but didn't think I'd actually get one.

I walked into my room today to find my dad sitting on my bed with a santa hat on holding Nina who was wearing Christmas bells, it was too cute!

I feel so blessed to have the two best parents in the world. They've made a lot of sacrifices taking care of Nina the past two weeks and it's because they know how important this was to me, and because they love me that much.

My dad has been waking up at 5:30 with her every morning the past two weeks and he's even taught her to sit, and my poor mom has been dealing with a puppy on top of everything else she does, they're the best. 

I love you mom and Dave, I'm blessed with the best parents in the world!

Jewelry Organizing Ideas

I've seen a lot of great pictures on Pinterest lately of ways to keep your jewelry organized, such as this picture below...

It's inspired me to share my own style of organizing jewelry with you all.

This is my current setup...

I have this glass table in my room and I've arranged all my necklaces, bracelets, earrings, perfume, and sunglasses around it. As you can see, I still have some of my sorority items around!

I found this great wrought iron key at a gardening supply store of all places, to hang my necklaces.

All of my bracelets, watches, and rings are in this cute zebra bowl that I found at Hobby Lobby...

and I display all of my earrings in this lucite box that I found one year during a trip to New York City...

I love my current setup because it's easy to find what I'm looking for and I can put it away quickly when I'm done.

Perfect Ending to the 2011 NASCAR Season

I just got back to Daytona after a perfect weekend in Charlotte, and a great way to finish the 2011 NASCAR season.

I had a GREAT time Friday night with CE and his family, they were so nice and so much fun. His mom and I had a blast talking about everything from our favorite OPI nail polish colors to my pink iPhone cover, she was awesome! 

Saturday night I represented NASCAR Diversity Affairs at the touring awards banquet. The pic below is with the four K&N D4D drivers this season, they've been so great to work with and I'm sure they all have bright careers ahead of them.

 and my bestie/co-worker, E, who let me crash at her house. Love her!

 and the D4D star of the night was Darrell Wallace Jr., who finished second in the points standings this season! 

I loved being in Charlotte, downtown was decorated for Christmas and the city was alive! I can't wait for my next trip to Charlotte but for now I'm in Daytona and getting ready to head to Houston for the holidays!
