what a weekend...

I just got back from spending the weekend in Richmond for another one of our NASCAR Diversity Mentorship Programs. Let me tell you, my weekend, as far as work is concerned, was less than ideal. It felt like I spent most of the weekend figuring out how to solve the next issue. Luckily, I made it out alive, and it seemed like our ten students had a good experience.

Although there were some challenges, the weekend wasn't all that bad. I got to ride in the pace car for the first time, and visit with one of our interns from this past summer who came to help me out for the weekend.

Me with the hot pink pace car, that's my kind of pink!
Jarrett, one of our summer interns and I during pre-race. He was a HUGE help at the track this weekend.

I also got to spend some time with Ryan, one of my friends from Charlotte. She's living in Richmond now and it was so much fun seeing her. We went out to Blackfinn and spent the night dancing away to old N'Sync and Backstreet Boys songs that they kept playing for some reason. It was a girl who grew up in the 90's dream!

My flight was supposed to get into Daytona sometime after 10:00pm but I called the airport this morning and there was room on an earlier flight. I was driving my friend Caila back to Charlotte and I think we spent the entire road trip watching the "estimated arrival" time on the GPS. We made it to the airport 55 minutes before the flight was supposed to leave. I had to pay a fee to go standby and I looked like a hott mess sprinting to the gate, but I made the flight and it was totally worth it!

It was a crazy few days and I'm glad to be home. I hope that all of you had a fantastic weekend!
